We’re having a pop up shop

We’ve got news….as of today 13 May until next Weds 18, we’ll be at 19 Greek Street once again for an Emily’s House London pop up shop. Unlike our previous collaborations with the gallery, for this one we’ve brought a much bigger collection of our rugs for you to chose from. It’s a solo show this time too and we hope as many of you as possible can make it to Soho to see our pieces in their full and glorious form. We’ve tried to create a capsule version of what we have at St James’ Park so you should get a real taste of what we do – and have the chance to buy a rug on the spot – while getting a rare peek inside 19 Greek street, which is now only open for special events.

As we’ve been reflecting on what we do in the run up to the pop up shop, we thought it might be nice to recap here too. Emily’s House London was established five years ago by Katrien Vermeeren, whose travels to the Middle East and North Africa inspired her passion for antique rugs made by local artisans. The pieces she personally sources are up to 60 years old and mostly made from natural fibres such as wool, cotton and goat hair. Each carpet is hand woven and carries on local traditions within the tribal communities, often telling stories through creating scenes, or using symbols to warn off bad spirits. From Moroccan Rag Rugs and Middle Atlas Mountain Beni Ouarain rugs to Turkish Perde fabrics and small decorative mats, each carpet is unique in its design and craftsmanship. In a time where craft and the handmade are more desired than ever, this pop up will celebrate the skill behind these wonderful designs, but also the desire to reuse and incorporate one-off, ethical pieces into our homes.

Because the townhouse on Greek Street is quite bijou, we have selected a cross section of our smaller carpets and, partly in celebration of summer, we’ve made colour a priority. Moroccan Azilals and Berbers with gorgeous hot orange and red tones plus Boucherouites in all sorts of shades are bringing a new feel to the wonderful Soho showroom. Minimalists, don’t worry there will be some plainer Beni Ouarains in the mix too.

The start of summer is a great time to refresh your home with new textiles and we find a lot of our customers love using smaller carpets as a way of experimenting with colours that they’ve fallen for, but that they might want to introduce to their homes in a subtle way. Come along and see our diverse collection for yourselves. We’re sure we have something for you.

The Emily’s House London Pop Up shop at 19 Greek Street, London W1D 4DT is open daily from 11-7pm except for sunday, when we’re open 12-5pm.
